imageImagine being greeted at Lake Lanier Islands Resort with a 40-foot cascading waterfall and driving through the natural sanctuary over a suspension gateway bridge that clearly immerses one with the feeling of escaping to the islands. This is only the beginning vision of legendary businessman Virgil Williams, leaseholder for Lake Lanier Islands Resort, and his family who acquired the resort a year ago in August.

Mr. Williams and his family have hired consultants, planners and designers to help shape the direction of the islands. Based on the research, in mid-August, they presented conceptual plans surrounding the 1,100-acre resort’s future development to the Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority (LLIDA).

Among the concepts were:

A variety of lodging accommodations and price ranges, including an expansion of Emerald Pointe Hotel & Conference Center

Eco-friendly transportation for travel around the islands, such as electric cars, Segways and electric and standard bicycles

Scenic paths, viewing stations, gardens and current roads will be created or updated to accommodate future transportation

“I just discovered Emerald Pointe and Pine Isle Golf Courses at Lake Lanier Islands Resort a few months ago. I wish I had known about them sooner. Between the golf specials, 21 waterholes combined and golf pros it is an experience I welcome time and time again.”
