Emerald Pointe Hotel receiving $16 million in upgrades

The signature hotel at Lake Lanier Islands Resort -- Emerald Pointe Hotel & Conference Center is going through a substantial renovation to be completed in multiple phases by March of 2008. Upgrade plans include $10 million to transform the 216-room hotel into a more rustic, natural wood style often seen in the grand lodges of the west, and $6 million to construct six new executive cottages near the hotel.

“By this time next year our guests will be greeted by a new exterior and lobby and two newly renovated restaurants,” said Grier Todd, General Manager of the Resort. The facility will also switch to be non-smoking in all rooms. The room upgrades, already underway, will be completed this May and will include:

• Enlarged bathrooms with custom Italian tile, oil-rubbed bronze hardware and granite countertops
• Walk-in showers to be available in a number of rooms
• Overstuffed sofas and chairs
• Upgraded bedding, including Serta Pillow Top mattresses and luxurious linens with high thread counts
• Natural wood furniture with drawer pulls fashioned to resemble tree branches
• Flat screen televisions
• Wireless internet in rooms and throughout the hotel

“We’re on the move here at Lake Lanier Islands Resort,” says Director of Décor, Mendy Williams Bowling. “Our guests will be very impressed with the improvements to the quality and look of Emerald Pointe Hotel. Starting with the hotel and our new vacation rental cottages, we want people to get a glimpse of what is to come here at Lake Lanier Islands Resort.”

Construction will begin in June on six new executive cottages that will nestle below the hotel. The multi-unit cottages will be approximately 2000 square feet each and will celebrate the wilderness of the natural Lake Lanier Islands Resort landscape, yet provide the creature comforts of a modern resort. Exteriors will incorporate the most revered material used to create the cherished character of our National Historic Park Lodges built at the turn of the 20th Century. These were heavily crafted in stone and timber with large expanses of glass to view the water and changing scenes of the seasons.

The Beach & WaterPark opens May 5th

The Beach & WaterPark opens at 10 a.m. for weekends only Saturday, May 5 through May 20. Beginning May 21, the Beach & WaterPark is open daily.
